The Fox and the Cat
นิทานเรื่อง : สุนัขจิ้งจอกและแมว
A Fox was boasting to a Cat of its clever devices for escaping its enemies.
สุนัขจิ้งจอกตัวหนึ่งคุยโม้กับแมวว่า มันมีอุบายที่ชาญฉลาดมากมายสำหรับใช้หลบหนีศัตรู
“I have a whole bag of tricks,” he said, “which contains a hundred ways of escaping my enemies.”

“I have only one,” said the Cat; “but I can generally manage with that.”

Just at that moment they heard the cry of a pack of hounds coming towards them, and the Cat immediately scampered up a tree and hid herself in the boughs.

The Two Pots
นิทานเรื่อง : หม้อสองใบ
Two Pots had been left on the bank of a river, one of brass, and one of earthenware.
หม้อสองใบถูกทิ้งไว้ริมแม่น้ำ ใบหนึ่งทำด้วยทองเหลือง อีกใบเป็นหม้อดินเผา
When the tide rose they both floated off down the stream.
เมื่อน้ำในแม่น้ำเพิ่มขึ้น หม้อทั้งสองก็เริ่มลอยไปตามลำธาร
the earthenware pot tried its best to keep aloof from the brass one, which cried out:
หม้อดินเผาพยายามอย่างยิ่งที่จะอยู่ห่างจากหม้อทองเหลือง หม้อทองเหลืองจึงร้องบอกว่า
“Fear nothing, friend, I will not strike you.”
